Chelmsford Model Flying Association is probably the largest radio controlled aircraft flying club in the Essex area. The club's flying site is situated just outside Chelmsford on the A1060 at Roxwell. Most types of models can be flown at the airfield, IC, Electric fixed wing aircraft or helicopters.

The membership of Chelmsford Model Flying Association is limited to 150 members including juniors, who have to be accompanied by an adult. Free training is given to ‘wannabe' pilots using the buddy lead safety system. A monthly meeting is held where members can meet up and discuss modelling in general, or sometimes a guest speaker will be present to demonstrate various aspects of the hobby.

Throughout the year there are club competitions at the flying field and other events, including two ‘Try ‘n' Fly' weekends. This is where the general public are invited along to the airfield to try their hand at flying a model aircraft, all equipment and models are provided free of charge by Chelmsford Model Flying Association.
