Opening at 7.30am every day, Hylands Park in Chelmsford is a perfect place to take a quiet stroll. The estate has much to offer including ponds, lakes, gardens, grassland and ancient woodland. And the best thing is.... it's all free!!

To celebrate to World Scout Jamboree, which was held at Hylands Park in 2007, the One World Garden was created which provides "one of the most exciting contemporary gardens in East Anglia". Inspired by the Arts & Crafts movement, along with the traditions of the Scouting Association in mind, each of the garden areas represents a child's journey through life all the way to adulthood.

In addition, the Hylands Park Pleasure Gardens are a delightful place to spend some quiet time away from the hustle and bustle of life in Chelmsford. Consisting of a variety of planting styles from the Victorian to Edwardian era, the gardens also include a small goldfish pond with an arbour on either side. Built between 1819 and 1825, this was the site of a stunning 300 foot long glazed conservatory.

Hylands Park in Chelmsford is a wonderful place to some time with the family and has some fantastic facilities as follows.....

• Children's Play Area
• Public and disabled access toilets
• Free car parking at both entrances
• Dog Waste bins. (Penalty fines may be issued to dog owners who do not dispose of their dogs waste)
• Dogs are welcome in the park provided that they are kept under control at all times. Dogs must be kept on leads in the One World Garden
• Guided tours of the Pleasure Gardens, One World Garden and parkland can be arranged. Please call 01245 605500 for further information
• Accessible cycle routes throughout the park
• Pushchair and wheelchair friendly routes around the park
• Free mobility vehicle available for use in the park (please call 01245 605523 to book in advance)
