Chelmsford trains are a great way to enjoy a day out with the family, explore the fantastic towns and villages that Essex and the South East have to offer, or commute quickly to work using the direct line straight into the heart of the City of London, terminating at London Liverpool Street.
Passengers looking for a day out can catch trains from Chelmsford direct to a number of places including the historic Colchester, the seaside town of Clacton, the cruise terminal and shipping port of Harwich, as well as towns such as Ipswich, Braintree, Romford and Manningtree. Other destinations such Southend-on-Sea, Felixstowe, Lowestoft and Norwich are possible, but require at least one change of train.
If Chelmsford trains are the way to your London workplace each day, then the direct line into London Liverpool Street takes around 45 minutes, and is more often than not a reliable and punctual service. Services run between every 20 and 30 minutes and are provided by National Express East Anglia. The service also stops at London Stratford International, for links to the Docklands Light Railway and the London Underground Central Line.
The latest figure published (March 2011) by National Express East Anglia for the whole of their network (see map below), including Chelmsford trains, show that 92% of services run on time. If you are planning a trip to watch the London Olympics in 2012, then Chelmsford is ideally placed to take you direct to the heart of the Games. With Chelmsford trains to London Stratford International, right next to the Olympic Park, taking less than 30 minutes, the town is an ideal base or starting point for your journey.
With the forecast increase in rail travellers during this period, trains from Chelmsford and throughout the whole of the South East will undoubtedly be much busier than usual. It is therefore expected that the rail companies will be running additional train services to cope with the increase in demand. Keep an eye on our News section for the latest updates on extra train services being provided by National Express East Anglia specifically for the London Olympic Games in 2012.
