Chelmsford Songsters

Add News

Musical NotesChelmsford Songsters are part of The Salvation Army and based in Baddow Road, Chelmsford. There is a current membership of around 50 members, and have campaigned throughout the country all the way from Paignton to Edinburgh.

The Chelmsford Citadel Corps opened fire in 1886 and almost immediately, musical sections seem to have been formed. There is definitely evidence of an active songster brigade dating back to at least 1890.

The Brigade's most memorable moment came in 1997, when during Northern Ireland's first cease fire, the corps travelled to Belfast Dee Street.

The stated mission of the Brigade, along with the rest of the Chelmsford Corps, is to share the good news of the gospel of Christ through music and singing to those who will listen.
