Chelmsford Mencap

 

CHELMSFORD MENCAP is a registered charity (No.245421) established in 1951 that helps children and adults with disabilities and life limiting and terminal illnessess. The disabilities of our members are wide-ranging including autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, sensory impairment, speech and language difficulties and learning disabilities.

The aims of Chelmsford Mencap is to inform, encourage and support social inclusion to our members and their families, so that they can grow in strength, knowledge and confidence. 

We aim to provide recreational, social and respite facilities to children and adults with disabilities, life limiting and terminal illnesses living in Essex who are socially excluded from accessing main stream activities. Chelmsford Mencap strongly believe that those with learning disabilities should have the same access to recreational activities that others enjoy.

We currently have six clubs running, the Daybreak holiday and Saturday Clubs (3-18 years) Gateway Club and Gateway Dance Group (16+ years) CMYC Youth Club (16-25 years) and Adult Adventures’ Club (19+ years).
