The top rated Chelmsford Club, in an ongoing web survey, sees Dukes Genesis currently in the Number One spot. Based in Duke Street, just 100 yards from both the Bus Station & Railway Station, Dukes Genesis has regular special events and is the place to be spotted on Chelmsford club scene.

Closely following on in second place is Decadence, which is also based at the same venue in Duke Street, and it has been said to cater for the slighter older clubber than its neighbour. The poll is voted for by clubbers throughout the whole of Essex, so it can rightly be claimed that the best two nightclubs in the county are based right here in Chelmsford.

Other Chelmsford club venues which did well in the survey include, Candy Club (formerly Reds Nightclub), Club Fusion, The Bar, and Edwards. Those featuring a bit further down the list were Barhouse (now closed, but re-opening at another venue soon) & The Cellar Bar.

Chelmsford Sports Clubs

For a town the size of Chelmsford, it is only natural that there should be a whole host of different sports clubs within the vicinity.

The most well-known of these are Essex County Cricket Club, Chelmsford City Football Club & Chelmsford Chieftains Ice Hockey Club. With the London Olympics next year in 2012, many of the sports in the Games also have clubs in the town. These include Chelmsford Swimming Club, Chelmsford Hockey Club, Chelmsford Athletic Club, Chelmsford Gymnastics Club, & many of the various forms of martial arts.

Aside from the Olympic sports, Chelmsfordians also have a wide choice of sports clubs from which to choose ranging from Angling to Golf, Rugby to Ice Skating, Canoeing to Diving.

Chelmsford Comedy Club

Currently based at Waterfront Place*, the Chelmsford Comedy Club is a great night out full of entertainment and laughter.

Comedy nights are held on a Thursday evening every fortnight and feature four of the top acts from the UK comedy scene. All shows are for Over 18's only, with doors opening at 7.30pm and the show starting at 9.00pm.

Food is available until 8.30pm each evening, with a carvery on offer to Comedy Club guests for just £5.
