Glenn Pennyfather (Head Coach): Spent his playing days as a battling, hard-tackling full-back and midfielder, having started as a schoolboy at Southend United in the early eighties. Made 238 appearances for the Shrimpers, scoring 36 goals over a long spell at Roots Hall before Steve Coppell took him to Crystal Palace for £150,000 in 1987. Broke two records as their youngest ever player and by meriting their record transfer fee recouped at the time. A series of injuries blighted his subsequent spells with Palace, Ipswich Town and Bristol City before moving into the part-time game at Stevenage Borough then Canvey Island, where he later became a coach. Enjoyed plenty of success in the Gulls' dugout alongside Jeff King, helping guide the club to promotions and FA Trophy Finals, before moving with King to Chelmsford in the summer of 2006 where the Ryman Premier title was secured in their second season at Melbourne. He took control of the team in his own right in 2009/10 and guided them into the play-offs.

Ben Chenery (Coach): Former Luton Town youth trainee for two years from 1995 who then moved to Cambridge United and made nearly 100 appearances at the Abbey Stadium. He was then signed by Kettering Town in the Football Conference in 2000, where he spent six years before a similarly lengthy period at Canvey Island. This proved a very successful time and he took part in numerous high-profile FA Cup and Trophy runs, including lifting the Trophy at Villa Park as winners. Moved from Park Lane to City alongside Manager Jeff King and several team mates in 2006 and went on to participate in the Ryman League Premier Division title season of 2007/08. Ipswich Town were alerted to his potential and took him to Portman Road where he made two First Team appearances, spending much of his time on loan from the Suffolk club. His initial loan was to Blackpool in 2001/02 for several successful months which saw him make 16 appearances and play a part in winning the LDV Vans Trophy. Two seasons later he moved for short spells with Dagenham & Redbridge and Peterborough United, as well as a brief reunion with Heybridge then Hornchurch, before finding more regular football in Kent with Gravesend & Northfleet, now Ebbsfleet United. Pullen signed for both Fisher Athletic and Eastleigh in the 2008/09 campaign amongst a lengthier period with AFC Wimbledon, where he signed following a successful loan spell in 2007/08. He eventually represented the Kingsmeadow club with distinction 42 times, occasionally against the Clarets, as he jumped up via promotion from the Ryman League Premier Division prior to helping them to the Conference South title in 2008/09.

Ashley Harrison (Goalkeeper): Highly competent custodian who made his name in Canvey Island's successful side, whose rise began in the late nineties. Kept goal during various FA Cup upsets and a 2001 FA Trophy victory at Villa Park. Stayed loyal to the Gulls yet spent a short time with Dover Athletic in the middle of his time at Park Lane. Previously caught the eye in a strong Basildon United youth team in the mid nineties when appearing in their FA Youth Cup upset of Chelsea and has also represented the British Universities side. Includes Southend Manor and Great Wakering Rovers amongst his other former clubs. Joined City in 2006.

Lewis Batchford (Goalkeeper): Young custodian who has been integrated into First Team football after showing his ability in the club's successful Youth and Reserve sides. Ben Nunn (Defender): Widely-respected young full-back who most recently starred at Bishop's Stortford elsewhere in the Blue Square Bet South. A right-back who began his career at Boston United where he made one First Team appearance in the Football League in 2006/07. He then moved on to Rushden & Diamonds the following season as a second-year scholar, also breaking into the Nene Park club's First Team prior to a link-up with Cambridge City in the Southern League. Last season he played for Stortford, where he was regarded as one of their prize talents until joining City in March.

Ryan Batchford (Defender): Promising centre-half who has skippered the club at Youth and Reserve Team level. Commanding performances in these sides led to a spell with the First Team and a handful of appearances in cup competitions. Rated highly by Glenn Pennyfather, Ryan can also operate in other positions and his reputation has earned him numerous Essex Representative Team caps, where he was also captain. Played for last season's Under 18s who won the County Cup and progressed in the FA Youth Cup.

Adam Tann (Defender): Central defender who was a schoolboy at Norwich City at the age of 13, where he was later recognised in several England Under 18s squads. He later moved on to Cambridge United in March 2001 where 121 appearances followed, broken-up only by a loan period at Cambridge City and single emergency appearance for Gravesend & Northfleet in 2005, as he made a positive and lasting impact at the Abbey Stadium. His departure led to several trials with a number of reputable clubs but he joined Notts County in 2005/06 and participated in a handful of games prior to a 31-game spell helping to fight relegation successfully with Leyton Orient. This reminded County of his ability and he was then to become almost a regular in their 2007/08 and 2008/09 campaigns, racking-up a half-century of games at Meadow Lane. Last season he was a mainstay in the Blue Square Premier with Histon, making 39 appearances. Signed for the Clarets in July 2010.

Injury prevented him finishing any higher than fourth out of thousands of participants (the winner would have earned a professional contract with Chelsea) so he continued with the Daggers until the end of the 2007/08 campaign. Joined Ryman League outfit Concord Rangers the following season and made 27 appearances, including five goals, which led to him spending the final six weeks of that campaign at Braintree Town. Impressed in his first year at Melbourne and also performed admirably at right-back when required to.

He enjoyed more success at Cambridge United in 2007/08, however, and was a regular as they fell at the last hurdle in the Blue Square Premier play-off final at Wembley. He was released at the end of the campaign and linked-up with another Premier club, Weymouth, where he remained a fixture as captain during troubled times at the Wessex Stadium. Reed then moved back into the League with Macclesfield Town at the start of last season though he did return to Weymouth on loan again, plus Grays Athletic, and joined Chelmsford in July 2010.

Takumi Ake (Midfield): Affectionately known as ‘Tako' within the team, Takumi is a 26-year-old winger who selected Chelmsford ahead of a number of other offers in the summer. The Japanese wide man was originally at Hendon in the Ryman League but moved to Team Bath in conjunction with his university studies. Educated at a renowned local establishment for sports excellence, Barking Abbey School, Ricky has been regularly selected for the Essex Under 18s Schools Representative Team and was also chosen to appear in series one of Sky One's reality TV show, Football Icon, making the final six contestants. Spent time on loan at Witham Town in 2008/09 and can also operate as a striker.

Rob Edmans (Forward): Tall striker who has a distinguished record in college football having attended specialist sports institution, Loughborough University, from 2006 alongside former City youngster Liam Hopkins, forming part of their successful team.
