Chelmsford Canoe Club was established in 1946 and is one of the oldest in England. The Club is situated on the River Chelmer in the centre of Chelmsford with the entrance being on the footpath between Meadows II (Mothercare & Argos) and the Wharf Road long stay Car Park. 


Chelmsford Canoe Club covers most aspects of canoeing and has a strong racing team. Over the years Chelmsford CC has had a several members representing Great Britain at World Championship and Olympic level.


If you would like to try Canoeing, then we have members of the club who are qualified by the British Canoe Union as instructors who can help you. However, often during the summer months we are sometimes inundated with too many people wishing to start canoeing, so we may not be able to accomodate everybody.


The Club also has all the equipment you will need to get started with a good range of beginner boats, buoyancy aids and paddles. However, as the supply is limited, members are expected to buy their own kit after a period.


We are proud to announce that at last we now have a new Club house with showers, changing rooms, a kitchen, plus a boat storage facility.


Canoeing is a modern, healthy, safe sport and if you are an outdoor type of person we are sure you will enjoy what the club has to offer.
