The Cats Protection League ChelmsfordThe Cats Protection League Chelmsford branch was founded in 1963 and covers the town as well as the surrounding area up to a 15 mile radius. The centre costs over £70,000 to run annually and being a registered charity relies solely on donations and fundraising events.

On average, the Cats Protection League in Chelmsford helps over 1,000 cats & kittens every year. The majority of these have either been rescued or have been given to the centre by owners, such as the elderly, who are unfortunately unable to cope with owning a pet any more. On entering the Chelmsford branch, the Cats Protection League ensures that all animals are micro-chipped, vaccinated and neutered, as well as being de-flead and wormed.

The Cats Protection League Chelmsford Adoption Centre is open every day to the public from 11am to 3pm. On average, they have around 50 cats in their care at any given time looking for a home. If you are interested in giving any of the felines at the centre a loving environment, then you are more than welcome to visit the adoption centre and meet some of the delightful cats currently in their care.

Chelmsford Lost & Found

If you have either lost or found cat within the catchment area then please call The Cats Protection League Chelmsford on 01245 478389. Alternatively, you can send an email to chelmsford@cats.org.uk.

If your cat is lost, then it would greatly help the search if you could provide as much information as possible, including such things as the animals colour, breed, name, age & sex. Other information like if the cat is neutered, micro-chipped and even a photo would also help proceedings.

As well as contacting the CPL Chelmsford, you are advised to also search the whole of your property thoroughly, both inside & out and contact vets both locally & further afield. If this is not successful, you could also try putting posters up in your area, asking friends and neighbours, posting leaflets through people's doors, and contacting other relevant animal welfare organisations, homes and charities.

If you have found a cat in Chelmsford, then try to obtain as much information about it as possible. Firstly, check to see if it has a collar or tag, and then call 01245 478389 who will inform what to do next.

Adopt a Cat in Chelmsford

The Cats Protection League Chelmsford Adoption CentreIf you would like to adopt a cat from The Cats Protection League Adoption Centre in Chelmsford, then please pay them a visit between 11am – 3pm 7 days a week or give them a call on 01245 478389.

All persons wishing to adopt will be given the chance to discuss the different cats which are available and have been suitably matched with your circumstances. Before any cat is allowed to be taken, a home visit is carried out by the CPL team to ensure that it is suitable for both the cat as well as the prospective owners.

Once everything is in order, you are kindly requested to make a donation to the centre to help fund the fantastic work that they do.

Before any cat leaves the centre, they are checked over by the vet, have undergone a full up to date vaccination programmes, are free of fleas and worms, as well as being neutered if appropriate.

If you would like to find out more or see what potential pets are at the centre ready for re-homing right now, please see Home a Cat.
