Musical NotesCaprice - The Essex Wind Orchestra was established in 1989 and from its original ten players it has now grown to a present membership of almost eighty.


Over the past 20 years, Caprice has established itself as an important part of the music scene in Chelmsford, firstly under the direction of its founder, Joy Bome, and since 2006, her son David.

 


The Orchestra is a strong supporter of local and national charities, performing approximately five concerts every year, raising a total well in excess of £100K over the years. They are also heavily involved with the Chelmsford Town Twinning Association, with the respective orchestras of Backnang in Germany, Annonay in France, and Caprice having made a series of visits to each others towns.
